The Indigenous Genomics Institute (IGI) began forming in 2020, and since then we’ve been active on a number of kaupapa, including submitting to Te Ara Paerangi, challenging the Independent Police Conduct Authority about the NZ Police’s disproportionate biosampling of Māori youth, and supporting other aligned genomics kaupapa. Despite being incredibly passionate about the overall kaupapa, due to various whānau commitments, we’ve been less active over the last year, and have paused our mahi. You can still read about our kaupapa, who has been involved, and find some rauemi, and we hope to be active again in the future as other commitments allow.
